Welcome to the Brick City Bike Collective!

Bcbc invites you to join us in making Newark a more bike-friendly city. We started as a group of like-minded people who wanted to get out the word that biking is the cheapest, greenest, healthiest and most fun way to get around town. Of course, we all realized that while the Brick City has potential, there are many improvements needed on the streets – streets that have been designed and redesigned for decades with only cars in mind. Bcbc hopes to change this by both increasing the visibility of bikers and through direct advocacy for better bike infrastructure.

So drop us an email (brickcitybikecollective@gmail.com) or call (973.559.6179) and see how you can get involved! Even better, come out for one of our rides – on the first Friday of every month we leave from Beaver St. and Market downtown at 7pm and on the third Sunday of each month we ride after our free “fix your bike in the park” event in Lincoln Park, 2 – 4pm.
We’ll be scheduling many more events and rides – so check back as we update our calendar!

    Good luck to you all.

Have a question? Do any of the restaurants in the Iron Bound District have bicycle racks??

    Thanx

Thanks for commenting John – as far as I’ve seen, no. There is one bike rack that is being used as a fence post, but still usable for locking, down the block from the Spanish Tavern. That’s it though! In the meantime, I’ve been locking to signposts.
This is exactly the type of infrastructure we are encouraging, both from the city and the businesses. You should come along on our bike audit ride Sunday the 23rd. We’ll be documenting these types of conditions.
    Take care,
    Kyle
